Jay Wheeler Talks Singing In English & Spanish, “La Curiosidad” And What Makes Him Strikingly Different

José Ángel López Martínez, professionally known as Jay Wheeler, has been the topic of conversation for many Reggaeton enthusiasts as of lately.
Wheeler’s versatility in music has earned him the respect of many. Having the ability to sing in both English and Spanish has allowed him to create his own lane. This has led to Grammy nominations and collaborations with artists like J Balvin, Farruko, Arcángel, Myke Towers, Becky G, Jhay Cortez, and Rauw Alejandro to name a few.

The “La Curiosidad” singer seems to be a down to earth individual who shows his gratitude to everyone that has given him an opportunity in the music game. Wheeler states that he feels blessed to be where he is at in life and is thankful for the support he’s received throughout his career.

Wheeler was first discovered by DJ Nelson, a Puerto Rican record producer, who gave him a shot after finding out about him online. Nelson signed Wheeler where they produced his first album, Platónico, featuring Puerto Rican artist, Farruko.

Wheeler also shares with us that he would not be who he is without DJ Nelson. “I am who I am thanks to DJ Nelson.”
From a young age, Wheeler has been passionate about music. As a child, he sang at his local church where he learned to play the piano.
Challenges due to bullying in his teenage years brought him closer to music as it provided and escape for him.

Jay shares with us how much respect he has for American music, having been influenced by artists like NSYNC, Justin Bieber, Boys 2 Men, and Chris Brown.
He has his sights on collaborations with Chris Brown, The Weeknd, Drake, and Post Malone.
The Puerto Rican artist shares with Contrast that he has two upcoming albums. One English album named “Good Music for Bad Days” and an unnamed Spanish album.
What makes you strikingly different?
Wheeler tells us the color of his voice and the fact that he’s more human than artist gets him a lot of opportunities. His heart and the type of person that he is has allowed him opportunities he would’ve never imagined.
