Lasso Talks Releasing New Album “Eva” Via Universal Music Group México
Singer-songwriter Lasso is celebrating the launch of his fourth album, “Eva.” The project has twelve songs, one of which inspired the title. “Eva is my favorite song on the album… which is actually why I named the album that,” he said. The album “Eva” is a tribute representing being with a woman throughout the good, the bad, and the ugly. “All the songs share different stages of being with a woman. When you’re in love with her, fighting with her, etc.,” said Lasso.
The overall idea actually stemmed from Adam and Eve (which is Eva in Spanish). “I wanted a concept, or a name.. something to tie all that I wanted to express- which is why I came up with Eva, who, according to Christianity, was the first woman,” Lasso said. The album only has one track with a feature (“Ojos Marrones” with Sebastian Yatra), released last year.
Lasso is very mindful when deciding who he wants to collaborate with. “It doesn’t make sense to collaborate with someone just because it’s convenient. I feel like there has to be a deeper meaning as to why a song must need a collaboration,” he said.
Another reason why Lasso didn’t want collaborations on the album was because he wanted to find his sound. “Towards the end of 2021 I found myself very frustrated because I didn’t know who I was as an artist. I didn’t know what my sound was… and I wanted to find my identity with this album,” he said. Through his constant writing he was able to reconnect with who he is as an artist and create this masterpiece of an album.
With the prior success of the singles included in the album, fans are excited to hear the entire project. “I just hope that people connect with the album,” he said. As an artist, Lasso feels it’s very important for his audience to identify with his songs. “All of my music comes from my true and honest experiences, so it means a lot to me when someone relates to it,” he said. Lasso’s album “Eva” is now available on all streaming platforms.
