Latin GRAMMY-nominated Manuel Lara Talks Working With Kali Uchis, Bad Bunny & More For Contrast News
Chances are Venezuela’s #1 and GRAMMY-nominated producer, Manuel Lara, is behind some of your favorite songs! He’s worked with leading acts such as Rauw Alejandro, Bad Bunny, and Sebastian Yatra, to name a few. Both of his parents were in the entertainment industry, meaning music runs in his blood. “My dad played the saxophone and my mom was a professional dancer,” says Lara. Although his passion for music was always there, it wasn’t until he visited Puerto Rico and met talented individuals that his music career started. One of his biggest accomplishments includes working on the global hit “Telepatía” by Kali Uchis, which hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs list for four consecutive weeks. “We never expected the song to be so successful, we were just doing what we love to do, creating music. But it was definitely an amazing feeling to see the fans love the song so much,” says Lara. Not to mention working on Bad Bunny’s album “El Último Tour del Mundo” earned Lara two Latin Grammy nominations for Best Urban Music Album and Best Rap/Hip Hop Song. “I was playing soccer with my friends and suddenly got a text congratulating me! I was so shocked,” says Lara.
As if he’s not busy enough, he now has “Lara Project,” a music group with him and his brother, Felix Lara. They recently released their single “Terror.” When asked who else he’d want to work with, he said “The Weeknd, Chris Brown, Frank Ocean, and Ty Dolla Sign.” We’re excited to see Lara’s career continue to flourish! Update: Bad Bunny’s album “El Último Tour del Mundo” won its Latin Grammy nomination for Best Urban Music Album, and his song “Booker T” won Best Rap/Hip Hop Song, making Manuel Lara a Latin Grammy winning producer.
