PREMIERE: TIDAL’S New “Rising” Artist, Dreamer Isioma, Takes The Spotlight
Today marks the premiere of TIDAL’s exclusive documentary #TIDALRising featuring Dreamer Isioma. It focuses on their ability to draw others in with a new style of alternate-pop fusion that shakes you to the core. Their energy leaps off the screen, and their love for the art-form of music is all the more present. The documentary is a loose term for the gift that is witnessing someone make an impact and, essentially, history be made. By the end of the film, you, too, will be anxious to see what Dreamer Isioma does next!
Dreamer is one of the first openly nonbinary musicians. At just 20 years old, they already released EPs “Sensitive” and “The Leo Sun Sets.” They have cited their inspirations as eccentric rapper Tyler the Creator and bold musician Chief Keef. Songs by them range from “Meadows in Japan” to “Stop Calling the Police On Me.” They are representative of the Black queer community that is too often pushed to the side. Growing from Tiktok, they are ready to embrace their destiny in psychedelic beats and smooth rhythms.
“Music gives me a real sense of freedom and expression. I don’t consider myself part of any one specific genre; I make music for the people who exist outside and aren’t like everyone else. Being part of TIDAL RISING has let me explore my music further and expand the impact I hope to leave on the Black and trans youth community. I hope our fans can dive into this world with us and experience the vibe for themselves.”
TIDAL’s Rising program is the platform’s vertical dedicated to empowering up and coming artists while introducing listeners to the biggest names of tomorrow. You might recognize some Rising alumni: Alessia Cara, 21 Savage, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Chloe x Halle. The video installments give fans the unique opportunity to peek behind the curtain and connect with their favorite artists as they openly talk about their career, meanings behind their music, and struggles.
Dreamer Isioma could not be happier to embark on the collaboration with TIDAL, and the sentiment was mutual. The episode is out now and can be viewed below. To follow via social media, see @dreamerisioma and @tidal.
