Doja Cat Drops New Visuals for “Vegas” Music Video from Original ‘Elvis’ Motion Picture Soundtrack
Recorded nearly 70 years ago, the iconic hit song “Hound Dog” is back in the conversation thanks to Doja Cat‘s new song “Vegas,” which can be heard on the new “Elvis” movie original soundtrack.
The hit single we all know and love today was made famous by the late Elvis Presley. What most people don’t know is that the song was originally recorded by rhythm and blues singer Big Mama Thornton; yet she was never paid her dues.
The music video, which is out now, features a cameo by Shonka Dukureh, who portrays the late Big Mama Thornton in the new Warner Bros production which premieres June 24th in theaters.
One user on YouTube commented under the music video, “The fact that Hound Dog was original sung by black woman, then covered by Elvis and finally gotten their own rendition by another black women is a full 360!“
