Puerto Rican Artist Milly Talks Being Discovered by Farruko, His Debut Album “Honey Bee” & More With Contrast News
Latin artist Milly is ready for the world to hear what he’s been working on! Born Carlos Javier Sánchez, he explains his artist name Milly is short for “millennials.” “I want to be the best artist of my generation, the millennials; that’s where the inspiration behind my name came from.”
Although he started his career as a dancer, he says the transition to become a singer-songwriter was easy. “I’ve been dancing since I was a kid and singing since I was 19 years old. I always loved music and performing.”
After being discovered on an Instagram page by Latin sensation Farruko, Milly knew his superstar dreams were close to becoming a reality. “I always tell upcoming artists to take advantage of all social media platforms. You never know who is watching,” he says. Milly was shortly signed to Farruko’s label, Carbon Fiber music, and the rest is history!
His song “No Te Enamores (Remix)” was viral on TikTok after users created a dance to it. Due to the mass of people who participated in the challenge, the song had over 40 million views on TikTok. “I just remember checking my phone and seeing thousands of notifications. At first I had no idea what was going on, but when I saw the song was trending, I was just so happy that the fans were enjoying my music,” he says.
Luckily for the fans, Milly had more songs ready to release. His album, “Honey Bee,” has 14 songs and was completed within 2 months. “This is my baby. We worked really hard to perfect it and I hope everyone loves it,” says Milly. When asked about his 2022 goals, he said fans should be on the lookout for a possible tour!
