Gabito Ballesteros back on Sueños’ final lineup after his presentation was suspended
Sueños Festival Day 2 had a rough start as severe weather notices delayed its opening time until 4pm on Sunday, May 26th. Shortly before 1:30pm, the festival’s official Instagram page released an updated lineup – sets included Jowell y Randy, Mora, Maluma and Peso Pluma – but corridos tumbados phenomenon Gabito Ballesteros was off the schedule.
The Mexican singer-songwriter and record producer posted a message for fans through his Instagram story: “Chicago, Estamos trabajando en eso!!” (Chicago, We are working on it!!). About five minutes before doors opened, there was a final lineup: Gabito was back with a set scheduled from 6:35 – 6:55pm.
He stepped on stage with his band and kicked off with “LOU LOU,” a song he collaborated on with Natanael Cano, the leading exponent of corridos tumbados, as thousands of fans sang along. He received a Mexican flag and proudly held it up before performing the hit “AMG,” a song he joined Natanael Cano and Peso Pluma on.
Just before he brought out surprise guest Chino Pacas, Gabito apologized for the short set and any errors during his performance citing no time for soundcheck. “Yo quería cantarles,” he said. (I wanted to sing for you all.)
He ended his riveting set with the global hit “LADY GAGA,” a song released with Peso Pluma and Junior H.
Gabito recently released his debut album “The GB,” a project produced entirely by the young artist that marks a before and after in his career. The album includes 22 songs and its focus track is “Sin Yolanda” with Peso Pluma. His first U.S. tour, The Gabito Tour, kicks off on June 7th in San Diego and will run through September 28th wrapping up in San Jose.
