La Liga Femenina Celebrates Women in Latin Urban Music at Wynwood Release Party

La Liga Femenina, presented by Boy Wonder and Charlee Way, is a project that unites women in the Latin urban space that demonstrates  empowerment, musicality, and innovation for the Latin music industry. Released in honor of Women’s History Month, the project also celebrates Ivy Queen’s strong dedication to women’s empowerment and her impact in the genre.

The album features a powerhouse lineup including Mariah Angeliq, Nesi, Mala Rodríguez, and more, representing women from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, Chile, and beyond.

Gathered with friends, media, artists, and music industry professionals, La Liga Femenina was celebrated in the heart of Wynwood, Miami. The night also celebrated Ivy Queen’s birthday in true Pisces energy. The Queen herself showed up and showed out in a sparkly purple dress, fully glammed and radiating the royalty she’s always been.

Boy Wonder and Charlee Way, the producers behind the project, took a moment to share why now felt like the right time to release it. “I think it was a great time,” Boy Wonder shared. “Thank you to Charlee Way for coming up with the concept. I’ve done a lot of compilations in my career. This is an amazing opportunity, it took a year to make. We have all the top and upcoming artists: Nesi from ‘Yo Perreo Sola,’ Mala Rodríguez from Spain, and more.”

Chesca, one of the female voices on the album, explained what it meant to be part of this lineup. “For us, it’s an honor. She’s always supported the female movement, so to be on this album is another way of showing she still believes in supporting females.” Chesca was in attendance to celebrate both the project and Ivy Queen, adding, “It’s part of the vision of Charlee Way — uniting women. Together, we are more powerful.”

Nesi was also in the building. Known for her feature on Bad Bunny’s “Yo Perreo Sola,” shared, “Women are the most talented, no doubt.” Chesca added encouragement to young girls wanting to pursue a career in music, “Go with the process. We are here, and we continue to support everyone so that we all can rise together.”

The Princess of Miami herself, Mariah Angeliq, was in attendance with her single “Nota Eleva” already out as part of the project. “I’m super grateful they even considered me for the album,” she said. “Boy Wonder is always doing something different, something dope.” Mariah expressed how much it means to have Ivy Queen on the project and shared a message for young women navigating the music industry: “Be humble, don’t settle for less, and learn the business, not just the art.”

Radio personality and cultural tastemaker Alex Sensation, who premiered Ivy Queen’s “Cría y Calle” on his channel, offered some of the most memorable words of the evening about what this project represents. “I think it is beautiful what they’re doing right now. This album, all these women united,  especially with someone as iconic as Ivy Queen as the leader, helping to bring out new talent from different parts of the world and supporting them.” He added that the project says a lot about who Ivy Queen is as a person and an artist. Alex also teased the possibility of something bigger on the horizon: “Hopefully in the near future we can do a concert with just the women. A nice concert with Ivy, and she’ll bring all the rest of the women.”

Ysa C, a Colombian artist who creates Afrobeats, reflected on the deeper significance of the project. For her, La Liga Femenina represents an important and necessary space, one where women can create, be celebrated, and simply enjoy themselves.

La Liga Femenina
is out on March 6th, spotlighting a collective of women making their mark in the Latin urban space.
