Luna Lovebad Talks Queer Advocacy, ‘Gloomy Bear x ONCH’ Collection And More
She’s already established herself as a singer and model. She’s into cosplay, queer advocacy, and looking good, which she admits makes her feel good. She loves being able to inspire and empower others to look their best and feel happy, herself included.
This year, get ready to add a few more “gave it a try and did it well” items to her list of accomplishments, specifically jewelry designer and cannabis brand ambassador.
“The one thing I know for sure is that I’m resilient,” Luna Lovebad said. “It’s been such a difficult year, and there have been so many times where I wanted to end it all and give in to my inner saboteur. So I had to learn to love myself again and keep on pushing through.”
Her push has been leading to some excellent collaborations, starting with involvement in and support of a cannabis brand called Biko Flower. The California-based producer is owned by a Black woman and has a strong focus on social equity. Luna Lovebad finds this all very exciting.
“It’s so revolutionary to see Black and Brown women creating space in a male cis-het-dominated industry,” she said. “It’s inspired me to make space for BIPOC queer & trans people interested in the cannabis industry.”
She’s also working with her friend Natalia Gold, of Honey B Gold fame, to design “a really dope jewelry line.” More details will be revealed later this summer but so far it’s been a fun creative ride.
“I’ve always wanted to have a clothing or jewelry line, so when I was presented with the idea by my good friend Natalia, I immediately said yes,” Luna Lovebad said.
Great things are coming in the form of new music. She said she’s sitting on some great material and is just starting to get it out. She also is excited about a new collection featuring TV personality/designer and artist ONCH and Gloomy Bear. Gloomy Bear is a clever new anime series created by Japanese graphic designer Mori Check.
The concept of Gloomy Bear is all about sheer optimism: a boy named Pity tries to make a baby bear a friendly pet. The very wild now grown-up bear has a very different point of view and has never been enthusiastic about being owned by anyone.
The series is all about Pity always trying to find the best in his bear buddy in spite of being occasionally mauled. Matt Bennett, a longtime actor and Twitch streamer, plays Pity.
Luna Lovebad has been friends with ONCH for years and also considers herself a fan of Gloomy Bear, so is delighted to see them together, especially when she could be in a photo shoot featuring both.
Later this year, she expects to travel, get together and collaborate with friends, and perform her music whenever possible. “I have so many things in the works,” she said.
