Rap’s Next It-Girl Dess Dior Talks New EP “Raw,” Performing for Rolling Loud, Style Inspo and More
“What makes me, Dess Dior, strikingly different is that I’m me & you can’t find a duplicate.” Influenced by artists like Nicki Minaj, rapper Dess Dior is a force to be reckoned with. Off the heels of her all-new eight-track EP “Raw,” out Sept. 23rd, 2022, the raptress-on-the-rise says this project will allow fans to see “a more vulnerable side of Dess.” She says, “Not only will I be popping my ish, but I’m also digging a little deeper into the more melodic storytelling side.”
Growing up in Savannah, Georgia, Dess Dior was just a teenager when she and her best friend decided they wanted to start their own group. Dior’s father pushed her to take the music business seriously, and now she’s making noise across the industry. She took that motivation, put out 12 studio singles and now has garnered media support from MTV, Essence, Billboard, HotNewHipHop and more.
Dess recently performed a nearly 15-minute set at Rolling Loud Miami. Dess shared that she “trained for seven weeks straight to make sure I put on a fantastic show.” Its hard work and dedication like that will push her passed her limits as she soars to success.
Dubbing Berlin-based fashion label Ottolinger as one of her favorite brands, it’s easy to imagine Dess Dior’s personal style. “One word to describe my style would be limitless; there’s no limit to the drip!”

Talk us through your background. How did you get into music, and who influenced you as an artist growing up? I grew up with music being my therapy, so I look at it as a release/way to express myself. One of my favorite artists is Nicki Minaj. She influenced me musically because she was just raw, lyrical & unapologetically herself.
If you could collaborate with one artist, who would that be? If I could collaborate with one artist, it would be Rihanna.
You recently performed at this year’s Rolling Loud Festival. How was that experience, and how did you prepare for such an anticipated festival? My fourth Rolling Loud show was nothing less than amazing. The love and support are always heartwarming. For this year’s festival, I trained for seven weeks straight to make sure I put on a fantastic show.
‘Raw’ is your upcoming album coming out in September. What can your fans and new listeners expect from your latest project? My [project] is called “Raw.” I’m super excited about it. It will be a more vulnerable side of Dess. Not only will I be popping my ish, but I’m also digging a little deeper into the more melodic storytelling side.
Let’s talk about fashion. How would you describe your style, and who are some of your favorite fashion brands or houses? One word to describe my style would be limitless; there’s no limit to the drip! One of my favorite brands is Ottolinger.
