Emery Kelly’s Journey to 2021 Oscar Contender, from X-Factor, Hollywood Records Boy Band, to Netflix & Disney+ Roles

Raised in New York with dreams of making it in the music business, 23-year-old Emery Kelly is now on the fast track and pursuing his dreams in LA.  The talented singer, who got his start in 2013 on X-Factor with Simon Cowell, has not only been in the spotlight for his time with the boy band Forever in My Mind, but he has also ventured into the world of acting and producing…and has recently debuted as a solo singer with a brand-new album “Some Of My Emotions” (aka “SOME”) coming soon.  

This impressive entertainer has definitely got it all when it comes to talent.  This actor-singer-songwriter-producer has so many serious credits to his name including his breakout role in the Emmy Nominated Netflix series “Alexa & Katie.” He also landed his first feature film “Max Winslow and the House of Secrets,” where his song “The Answers” was featured on the soundtrack. Not only was Kelly’s song in the movie, but it was also considered for a 2021 Oscar nomination!

Emery also got a nod with a first-round ballot nomination from the 62^nd Annual Grammy Awards for his work with the remake of James Brown’s “Get Up Offa That Thang ” with the James Brown Academy of Musik Pupils and the singer’s family.

The next exciting role for Kelly was his part in the Disney+ dramedy series “Big Shot,” with John Stamos, which premiered in April. And it doesn’t stop there! Emery will next be releasing his debut solo album entitled “Some Of My Emotions”.

Inspired by music of all types, the X-Factor alum says that the soul in his rhyme comes from his idols who include Frank Ocean and Tyler The Creator. Here’s what else the talented singer, producer, and actor, had to say.

Was there a defining moment that brought you to the music industry? “Yes absolutely! The X-Factor USA Season 3!”

What is most satisfying for you about making music? “I truly enjoy being in the moment and capturing the emotions.”

Tell us about your newest single “The Answers” – and what it means for you! “It means so much to me! “The Answers” is the first song off my first solo album! It’s also a song in a movie I acted in, so it already speaks on so many levels to me. But also, with all the people I worked with on these songs (such as Jeremy Ryan Pholwattana and Cooper Anderson), I’m so grateful for all the great moments we had while creating those songs.”

When do you find yourself the most creative? “When I’m sitting at my piano, or just chilling outside and enjoying my view of the valley.”

What are your passions outside of music? “I enjoy acting, fashion, stocks, skating, surfing, and drawing!”

What has been your funniest experience in your career? “There was this one time I got to be in a giant T-Rex costume in the Netflix office building! It was quite awesome!”

What’s the most important thing we should know about you? “I’m true to who I want to be. And…I love people!”
