PLASMA TAKES THE SPOTLIGHT WITH HER LIVE DEBUT ALBUM IS MISS THING ON?
Plasma has always blurred the line between performing and commanding a stage. The “New Broadway Baby of RuPaul’s Drag Race” now steps into her biggest role yet with Is Miss Thing On? (Live from Joe’s Pub), arriving November 7 on Joy Machine Records. The live debut captures Plasma at her most authentic: present, magnetic, and vocally unstoppable. Its lead single “That’s Life” with GRAMMY and Tony winner J. Harrison Ghee drops October 10 alongside a performance video.
Recording a live debut is rare, but bold choices are nothing new for Plasma. Is Miss Thing On? mixes Broadway classics, jazz standards, and her original track “80 or Above,” forming a diary told through song. Between numbers, her humor and honesty about love, fame, and queerness shine through, turning the night into something intimate and unforgettable.
“This album is a love letter to my truest self,” Plasma says. “I wanted it live because I only get one shot to make it real.” That drive took her from small-town Texas to Drag Race fame, where fans fell for her powerhouse voice and old-Hollywood style. Since then, she’s toured All That Plazz, gone viral for “Don’t Rain On My Parade,” and serenaded Jinkx Monsoon on Logo.
With Is Miss Thing On?, Plasma captures a defining moment in queer artistry. Recorded live at Joe’s Pub with the Benjamin Young Band, the album celebrates what drag and live performance share at their core: truth, presence, and pure talent.
