How did you decide on the title of the album “Haters y Fanaticos?” The title of my album, Haters and Fanatics, is decided based on something that we all live and go through as an artist, athlete, even a person who is not part of the media or the sports field – they have haters and they have fans. This is simple as I always say in all the interviews – there are two pills, the blue one or the red one just like The Matrix, either you are a hater or you are a fan.

How do you want your fans to feel when listening to your album? I want you to feel super happy and super proud of the work we have been doing because it is not only about me but about teamwork and a platform of fans that have always supported me and have been there for me. At one point I thought I was alone in this music thing — but the fans have always told me “stick to it, keep hitting it, don’t turn it down a bit” so when they listen to this album, from the first song to the last and the one that feels identified the most and say “that happened to me, that is happening to me, I am living that” repaint it. I want more than anything that the fans feel very proud and super happy about what we have been doing for many years.

What was the hardest song on your album to finish and the easiest song to finish? The hardest song on the album to finish was “Se Acabo.” I did the first verse and the chorus intro and we left it at that for a year, until when we decided to finish it a year ago. He’s been working on this album for 3 or 4 years. The easiest song to finish was “Money + Cash” because it was something that I was living in the moment and I decided to appreciate it, and when I’m going through a situation – the muse comes to mind quickly and we finish the songs quickly.

How was your experience creating the album? Very good. I have had a friend and more than anything, a partner when it comes to composing such as RIKE MUSIC. RIKE MUSIC for me personally is one of the best producers and composers that Panama has today. The truth is, the experience was very good because we have been working on this for 3 to 4 years and we are super sure that people will like the work we have been doing for a long time. So, more than anything, the experience that I have had working and creating this album has been very good.

Who else would you like to collaborate with in the future? The truth is, I’ve always said Archangel. Lately I’ve been mentioning Myke Towers as well — that would be great. And if you talk to me about the American market, nowadays suddenly Lil Durk… Lil Baby too. It would be good, but we are only hoping that things continue to happen and later on we will continue working. And by the way Migos too — what is Quavo and Offset, I’m a complete fan of them.

You’re under Carbon Fiber Music… how did Farruko find out about you and your music? For me, it was in 2014 or 2015 that Frank Miami and Farruko were here in Panama — apart from that, the good relationship and communication that Frank Miami has maintained with Kareem Lynch (DJ Pirate) my manager as well. More than anything, at that moment Frank told me “you hit it, keep putting it in — your time will come.” My time came in 2019 to sign with Carbon Fiber Music – unfortunately 2020 came with a pandemic that did not let us develop many projects that we had in mind but today we thank God for the opportunity, health, and for life what are we here about Today we can use all the projects we had for 2020.

What have you learned the most from being with Carbon Fiber Music? I have learned that this is not only about a work team, it is not only about there being a real manager, that there is someone who is in charge of the art, that another person is in charge of getting the interviews — no. This is a family. This is a family and the feeling of one is the feeling of all. The sadness of one is the sadness of all and the joy and triumphs are reciprocal. So more than anything I have learned with Carbon Fiber Music that despite having a work team, you always have to consider each one of them as family.

What else can we expect from you this year? Aside from my album Haters and Fans, I’m going to focus a lot more on what I’m putting into this. If I was giving it 100% I’m going to raise it to 1000% full focused on my career and my projects in the future — and we are certain that this album will be a success and you will like it very much. More than anything, thanks to everyone for the opportunity given, thanks to all the fans for being attentive to what we have been doing, many more things and many more projects are coming… and above all thanks to the haters. I send you a kiss and a hug from Akim!
