Upside Down Photos of Nicki Minaj, Adele, Noah Cyrus & More Go Viral

Twitter account, Turn Your Phone, has taken the internet has been taken by storm!

“Turn Your Phone” has shared creepy images of Nicki Minaj, Adele, Aaron Carter, Noah Cyrus and Hillary Clinton. Just like the original image, their faces look completely normal when upside down, however, when they are turned over, it is revealed that their eyes and lips have been flipped!

Since the release of it, the photo has inspired countless media outlets to take part in the craze: Vogue, BuzzFeed, Yahoo!, Seventeen, TeenVogue and many more! Fans have also been inspired by @TurnYourPhone and have photoshopped their favorite celebrities such as Lil Kim, Justin Bieber, Kylie Jenner and more.

Contrast Magazine spoke directly with the creator of the viral Twitter profile and we were told that the account has received 488.5K impressions in just days of being created.

This optical illusion has real scientific roots to it. It’s called the Thatcher Effect. According to Wikipedia, “The Thatcher effect or Thatcher illusion is a phenomenon where it becomes more difficult to detect local feature changes in an upside-down face, despite identical changes being obvious in an upright face.”
