Lasso’s North American Debut: Exclusive Tour and Album Insights from the Latin Grammy Winner

Venezuelan Latin Grammy-winning singer and songwriter “Lasso” has embarked on his first North American solo tour, “Quedarse Solo Para Siempre,” presented by Live Nation. This thirteen-date tour will feature stops in major cities such as Miami, Chicago, New York, Maryland, Los Angeles, and more. Contrast had the opportunity to chat with Lasso while he was in Mexico.

Lasso will be visiting several cities for the first time, including Philadelphia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Atlanta. Fans in these cities might be in for a special treat, as Lasso hints at an interactive element to his performances. “I’m probably going to invite people to sing. If somebody is in the crowd, I would just pull them up and play with them. I think that’s cool and I have done it in the past” Lasso shared with Contrast.

In addition to his highly anticipated tour, Lasso is set to release an album soon. Three singles have already been released, which are “Bilingües” with Mau & Ricky, “No escuches esta canción” with Micro TDH, and “Siempre Llegas Tarde” with Sofía Reyes.

Lasso elaborated on the collaboration with Sofía Reyes for “Siempre Llegas Tarde,” revealing, “I wanted to make a song with her for a long time. I actually sent three or four songs before this one, and she didn’t like them. And I finally sent ‘Siempre Llegas Tarde.’ That’s the song that we made together. She loved it and I think she’s amazing. I am a really big fan of hers.”

Lasso also mentioned his ongoing collaborations with Micro TDH and his long-standing friendship with Mau y Ricky, with whom he shares a history of their school days. Experimentation with genres is a key theme of Lasso’s new album. He created his first cumbia with Sofia Reyes. He shares, “I am doing some Latin rhythms such as Huapango, which is a Mexican rhythm.

I have some in that genre. I have returned to making some reggaeton, one song only. It’s like a whole mixture of things that I am doing in this album.” Additionally, Lasso recently contributed to a remix of  “Ve y Diles” by Alex Ponce and Sebastián Lossa. Reflecting on this collaboration, Lasso expresses his admiration for Ponce’s work. “I am a big fan of his too. He has so much talent and such great songs. This whole remix started on TikTok. I just heard the song, and some random video appeared with the song. “Ve y Diles”  is one of those songs that, three seconds has you, and that’s what happened to me. I heard it, and after four seconds, I was in love with the song.”

He shares that he wrote to them like any fan: “I just wrote to them that this song is so great. I love the song, and they asked me to do the remix. It was organic; I actually didn’t want to do a song. I told them I don’t know if you need me for this song; this song is already a hit, and it’s amazing, you don’t need me. Then that was the selfish part; I just wanted to be part of the song, and I really like it. It’s one of my favorite songs,” Lasso tells Contrast.

In June, Lasso joined WK Management, marking a significant step in his career. “It’s a great step. It’s a huge company. Andres, who is my manager inside the company, he’s great. He has so much passion. He loves what he does. I think that’s important in the team that people love what they do.” When asked if Lasso has a dream collaboration with anyone on the roster, he expressed his enthusiasm for working with any of their talented artists.

Speaking of future goals for Lasso, he has already accomplished a lifetime goal, which was to win a Latin Grammy. He shares, “I think that was the thing with the Grammys. Like, I wanted to win a Grammy, and now I have one. It’s amazing.” Lasso would love to continue making music for the rest of his life. He never imagined that he could do so. He loves being in the studio and touring, and he hopes that the industry lets him be around for more years.

As Lasso’s North American tour approached, he also prepared for future international dates and festival performances, including a spot at Lollapalooza in Argentina. Stay tuned for updates and get ready to join Lasso as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his career!
