Contrast Magazine Celebrates Ivy Queen with Contrast Award During Latin Music Week at Palace South Beach
In an homage to reggaeton and one of its most iconic figures, Ivy Queen, Contrast Magazine held a celebration during Billboard’s Latin Music Week, honoring the “Queen of Reggaeton.” The event, a festive convergence of music, culture, and advocacy, took place in the heart of Miami, embracing the spirit of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Ivy Queen, a name synonymous with the pioneering spirit of reggaeton, was the center of this celebration. Known for her powerful voice, dynamic performances, and trailblazing role in a male-dominated industry, Ivy Queen has long been a beacon of empowerment and resilience. Contrast Magazine, through its platform, paid tribute to her enduring influence on Latin music and her unwavering support for the LGBTQ community, with a Contrast Award, presented by Out My Closet.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Contrast Award for LGBTQ Advocacy to Ivy Queen. This accolade, presented by Out My Closet (OMC) founder Michael Narain, underscored Ivy Queen’s significant contributions to LGBTQ advocacy. Narain’s speech touched on the critical importance of such advocacy in supporting queer youth, emphasizing the positive impact of visibility and inclusivity. Out My Closet’s mission, to empower displaced and under-resourced LGBTQ youth, aligned perfectly with the evening’s theme of celebration and support.
